Mutual support in our sector
The following are sources of mutual support:
- The Chartered Institute of Fundraising:
- Has a Special Interest Group that runs an email group and has occasional events
- Organises the odd event or conference for us all
- The Funding Network is a long running peer support group
- You can run your own group, either online or in person. (There are companies that provide free meeting space to charities.)
- There are a couple of Facebook groups
- There’s a network of fundraisers working in the arts
- You can keep friendly with other applicants via LinkedIn
- If I have difficult questions, e.g., regarding what a trust does I call people in my field who I think might know
- Of the trainers, certainly Bill Bruty welcomes questions from past trainees
